Jessica E Thompson is a Montreal-based amateur artist working primarily in oil paint, charcoal, watercolour, and oil pastel. Since she was a child she was always engaged in arts and crafts. At 14 she was awarded a scholarship to attend the Ridgewood Art Institute in Ridgewood New Jersey where she studied oil painting and charcoal drawing with Diana K. Gibson on Saturday mornings. Her interests vary from still life to landscape and portraiture and her chosen mediums also vary as she gains new inspiration and learns new techniques. As she has grown as an artist, she has come to learn that so much of art is rooted in what our eyes are capable of understanding from the world around us. With that in mind her favorite creations are the ones that surprise her.
